The 2019 Competition for Young Musicians

EVENT DATE:         

The competition will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the University of North Texas College of Music in Denton, TX. Specific room assignment and time will be sent once all scheduling is complete.

ELIGIBILITY:          

Any high school or home-schooled student of voice, piano or orchestral instrument may enter. Students residing in Denton County and its adjacent counties are eligible. Competitors must have turned 14 by September 1, 2018.

REPERTOIRE:

Contestants are to prepare two challenging pieces of contrasting styles.** Selections must be approved by the student’s instructor/ensemble director, and by the DBS audition committee. Audition time will be limited to 10 minutes. Participants may not be required to perform selections in their entirety.

FEE

An entry fee of $15, made payable to The Denton Bach Society, is to be sent with the completed application form or via Pay Pal on the DBS website.


AWARDS:

The winner in each division will receive a cash award of $250.00, a gift certificate from Pender’s Music for $150, and an opportunity to perform at a Denton Bach Society event, Sunday May 5, 2019.
